A SOLIDARITY PROJECT I PROUDLY VOLUNTEERED FOR:ÖRNEK EVLER YAŞAM KÖYÜ

Following the February 6th earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay suffered significant destruction. Therefore, I had the privilege of volunteering for the “Örnek Evler Yaşam Köyü” (Exemplary Homes Living Village) project. This initiative is dedicated to rebuilding lives in the region.
The project began with a group of architects asking themselves, “What can I do for the region?” immediately after the disaster. Furthermore, I joined this inspiring movement to support a nature-integrated housing model. This model prioritizes social spaces and ecological living in post-disaster housing.
As a result of this collective effort, 100 families moved into their new homes before the first anniversary of the earthquake. These homes also feature communal social areas for the residents. Finally, it has been a deeply meaningful experience for me to contribute to a project where social solidarity and architectural vision meet.
